The following release was issued by Kosciusko County police Friday afternoon:
The Kosciusko County F.A.C.T./Crash Investigation Team is currently investigating a head-on crash south of Leesburg this morning on State Road 15.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies and emergency personnel responded this morning at 11:48 a.m. to a reported vehicular crash on State Road 15, just north of Levi Lee Road. Fireman from both Leesburg/Plain Township and Warsaw/Wayne Territory Fire Departments extricated drivers from both vehicles, which were subsequently airlifted from the scene and transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center.
Kosciusko County F.A.C.T./crash investigators responded to the scene and determined that a southbound 2012 brown, Ford Edge, driven by Jennifer M. Gholson, 41, Warsaw, had crossed the centerline, striking a northbound 1998 white, GMC truck, driven by Sam E. Crace, 41, Roann. Crace was reported to have extensive lower extremity injuries, while Gholson reportedly had serious internal injuries.
Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. team members stated that it is unknown at this time why Gholson had crossed the centerline. Officers also stated that the crash is still under investigation pending legal blood results as required by state law.
