PLYMOUTH -- All over Plymouth high school, there are momentos of Morgan Uceny's time there. On the walls, in the trophy cases, and certainly in the record book.

"Her 800 meter record," says Roy Benge, "that's probably going to stand for a long time."

Benge was Uceny's high school coach at Plymouth during her freshman and sophomore years. He's now the athletic director.

"She was our fastest girl, between the 200 all the way to the 3200," he said. "And during that time period, she set records in the 400, the 800, and then she dabbled in the long jump. She set her long jump record as a freshman.

"She was as good or better than many of our guys on our team. We knew that she was gonna be an excellent runner. To project ahead to the Olympics though."

That was a dream come true.

"It's just been really satisfying to see her career project and see where she's at now," Benge said.

Benge says he will be glued to his TV on Monday when she races. And hopefully, have some more work to do after that.

"I'd like to add some things on top (of the trophy case)," he said, "and if we need, we'll make more space."
