The following release was issued by Kosciusko County police Monday morning:

A Warsaw couple is currently being held in the Whitley County Jail on numerous charges including an armed robbery from Kosciusko County.

Christopher Alan Gressley, 30, and Anita Lynn Moore, 28, Warsaw, were arrested Friday evening and are being held on numerous charges by both Whitley and Kosciusko County.  The arrest originated Friday evening at approximately 6:41 p.m. when South Whitley officers Blake Forrester and Chuck LeWallen were investigating a stopped van just outside of town.  During the course of their stop, Gressley and Moore were both found to have suspended driver’s license.  Officers also noted that their two small children appeared to have not been taken care of properly and Child Protective Services were contacted.  During the inventory of the van, officer’s located synthetic marijuana and devices used to smoke the substance.  Both Gressley and Moore were transported to the Whitely County Jail as the children were taken into protective custody.

On Saturday, information was obtained that Gressley and Moore could possibly be the sought after couple from the Leesburg Freedom Express convenience store armed robbery in Kosciusko County on Friday afternoon.  South Whitely officers had originally located a knife belonging to Gressley that was later determined to have been the weapon allegedly used during the gas station hold-up.  Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department detectives went to the Whitley County Jail and interviewed both Gressley and Moore who confessed to the Leesburg armed robbery involvement.

Both Gressley and Moore are being held on preliminary charges of neglect of a dependent, possession of a controlled substance/synthetic cannabinoid, and possession of paraphernalia.  Gressley was also charges with driving while suspended and currently has a bond of $27,500 while Moore has a bond of $24,000 in Whitley County.  Kosciusko County Sheriff’s detectives have also placed a hold on the couple as preliminary charges of felony robbery while armed with a deadly weapon are being issued by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Whitley and Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office advises that the defendant’s charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
