LOS ANGELES (AP) — A California woman faces federal charges after calling an airline to report a fake terrorist threat hours before her ex-lover was to board an international flight.
Federal prosecutors in Los Angeles say Lizet Sariol made an anonymous call to United Airlines on Sept. 25 to say there would "be an emergency" on a Las Vegas to Paris flight.
Sariol told the airline that she'd received a threatening text from her ex and his traveling companions.
But prosecutors say the 45-year-old woman was angry her ex unfriended her on Facebook, among other rejections.
Prosecutors say the two met four times and engaged in a sexual relationship while he was on vacation in the U.S. for a couple months.
Sariol is charged with fabricating a terrorist threat. She surrendered to the FBI on Wednesday.
