A Minnesota woman who caused a health scare aboard a Delta Airlines flight from Detroit ... causing the plane to be kept on the tarmac at Midway International Airport Thursday for three hours ... says it was all a misunderstanding over bug bites.
WSBT spoke exclusively with passenger Karla Ahern. She was sitting behind Lise Sievers who was returning from Ghana and had a rash.
Ahern says the flight attendant announced over the intercom the flight was being detained because someone on board could have an infectious disease.
"My heart starts racing because I haven't seen the movie, but you think of the movie "Contagion" and there's movies out there where this can be life-changing for people," Ahern says.
Authorities suspected Sievers may have come down with monkey pox, a contagious disease that occurs mostly in western Africa that causes victims to break out in small, crusty bumps.
Delta gave the passengers travel vouchers for their trouble.
