A former Notre Dame football Player and assistant Coach has entered a pretrial diversion program.

Michael Haywood was charged with domestic battery after police say he grabbed the mother of their child in front of the 21 month old.

He admits to a misdemeanor charge, which could come off his record if he meets all the diversion requirements.

The arrest cost him his new job as head football coach at the University of Pittsburgh.

He had recently left the head job at Miami of Ohio to take that position.
