They're something local drivers are seeing a lot of already and even more are still on the way. But not everyone is sure about the rules of the road inside roundabouts.

Jeff Critchlow has a Good Question. “What should you do if an emergency vehicle enters a roundabout behind you?”

For many local drivers, driving through a roundabout is something relatively new, which can lead to some confusion.

South Bend Police Captain Phil Trent says the same rules apply in a roundabout. If an emergency vehicle pulls in behind you with its lights on, move to the right and stop.

But Trent adds if you get confused, the thing to do around an emergency vehicle is to stop.

He says police cars can get around stopped vehicles. Trouble can follow while they are still moving.
