The commute on the city’s northeast side got a little more confusing for drivers Tuesday morning as the ramp from Allisonville Road to I-465 Westbound closed.
The ramp from Allisonville Road to Eastbound I-465 will close Thursday, August 2 at midnight.
Drivers can still exit off of the interstate onto Allisonville Road and make a right-hand turn. The Allisonville Road Bridge over I-465 closed to traffic May 30 and is slated to be closed for a total of 110 days.
Tuesday was day 62 of the closure. Each of the ramps to 465 is expected to be closed for 15 days.
Traffic on Northbound Allisonville Road will detour west on 86th Street, North on Keystone Avenue and east on 96th Street to Allisonville Road during the ramp closures. Traffic on Southbound Allisonville Road will detour east on 96th Street, south on I-69 and returns west on 82nd Street to Allisonville Road.
INDOT contracted Walsh Construction for the entire project and is offering incentive pay for each day the ramps open ahead of schedule as well as for each day the project as a whole is completed ahead of schedule. With very few rain delays, INDOT officials said the bridge is on schedule for a mid-September opening.
