It happened near Stop 11 and Sherman Drive just after 11 p.m. Saturday. At least two people were killed and seven others were injured.
Indianapolis Homeland Security Chief Gary Coons said, "all indicators" point in the direction of a natural gas leak as the likely cause. Because the house where the explosion occurred was unoccupied all day, Coons said there would have been no one home to smell leaking gas.
