Conservation officers with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources are investigating the shooting death of a Bald Eagle.
The mature Bald Eagle was discovered by hikers in the Hoosier National Forest, near the Jackson, Lawrence and Monroe counties line on Nov. 5. Authorities believe the eagle died sometime in early November.
An X-ray was performed on the bird to confirm that it was shot. A necropsy is pending at this time.
If you have any information regarding the shooting, please contact DNR officials at 1-800-TIP-IDNR. A cash reward is being offered for information leading to who is responsible.
