The attorney representing one of the alleged victims in the Carmel High School assault case has sent a letter to the Hendricks County prosecutor, asking her to consider more severe, felony charges against former players of the Carmel High School basketball team accused of attacking a younger student.
Fox59 has obtained a copy of that letter, where attorney Robert Turner urges Prosecutor Patricia Baldwin to "initiate an independent and and thorough investigation of the bus incident and not simply accept the circumstantial conclusions of the Hamilton County Authorities which resulted in the filing of only misdemeanor battery charges in this matter."
You may remember, a student claims he was assaulted on the back of a school bus last winter by older members of the Carmel High School basketball team while they were traveling back to Carmel from Terre Haute after an away game.
Four students were charged with misdemeanors in Hamilton County. Recently, Hamilton County Prosecutor Sonia Leerkamp dropped one misdemeanor battery charge on two of the accused so that the Hendricks County prosecutor could consider charges since the incident happened in that county.
