Principal John Williams had said that three senior boys basketball players had been suspended for five days, but at a Wednesday afternoon news conference no details were confirmed or denied.

Williams was asked Wednesday if he had threatened members of the team saying they'd be dismissed from school if they spoke with the media about the alleged assault.

"I did speak to the basketball team and absolutely no one has been told not to speak to the media," Williams told reporters.

Numerous parents and students tell FOX 59 News the three senior basketball players are no longer in school and they will not participate in school activities including Friday's senior night game at home against Brebeuf High School.

"It's very difficult to hear some of the rumors because they are simply fabrications but as far as that goes we think that our focus on students is really where everyone needs to be," Carmel Clay Schools Superintendent Dr. Jeff Swensson said.

Carmel Police Chief Mike Fogarty said criminal confinement, battery, and criminal deviate conduct are possible charges, but the investigation could take weeks.

"I think those are potential charges that could be filed due to the nature of what may have occurred here and again I am not going to get into the particulars," Fogarty said.
