A decision may come by the end of the week from prosecutors investigating reports of students assaulted by members of the Carmel High School basketball team.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Sonia Leercamp said she's hopeful a decision of whether or not to file charges will come by Friday. Carmel police said two Carmel freshman were assaulted by three seniors on a basketball team while on a school bus, returning from a game in Terre Haute.
Investigators said the charges could include battery, criminal confinement, and criminal deviate conduct. A grand jury was convened to hear testimony in the case.
Since the reported incident occurred in Hendricks County, Prosecutor Pat Baldwin is reviewing the case and will make the ultimate decision. Leercamp said the two are working together on this case.
