Fox59 News has learned Coach Mark Galloway, Carmel High School's head Basketball Coach may be on the verge of landing another head basketball coaching job in Lafayette.

Multiple sources confirm Galloway has interviewed for the heading coach position at Jefferson High School. The position has been open for several weeks.  Multiple sources also told Fox59 News Galloway has been the front runner for the job and players have said the coach is taking the position if offered the job.

Lafayette Jefferson High School has confirmed Galloway was interviewed for the job.

The move comes in the midst of huge controversy surrounding Carmel's team, as Hamilton County Prosecutor Sonia Leerkamp holds a 1:00 p.m. news conference following a Grand Jury's decision to recommend possible misdemeanor charges on senior players involved in two alleged hazing incidents at Carmel High back in January.

Fox59 News contacted Lafayette Principal Jeff Studebaker who said he could not comment on the situation and if an offer has been made to any candidate including Galloway.

Fox59 News also contacted Carmel High School principal John Williams, who also did not wish to comment.

Coach Galloway was not on the Freshman school bus when the alleged hazing incidents took place on a bus ride home from winning basketball games in Terre Haute January 22nd. Galloway has not been directly linked to any of the allegations involving the freshman students both on the bus and in a Carmel locker room January 8th.

Galloway has held a solid reputation in Carmel as head coach managing to turn the program around in recent years. Carmel over the years has had mixed results for their basketball program, some years winning, other years not. Galloway has been known to build a solid team, however some say he has not lived up to expectations as head basketball coach. They said Galloway had not brought the team to a level that they had hoped for. Galloway has turned out Division 1 players yet another benchmark to prove his coaching ability.

The coaching job at Lafayette would include a teacher's salary, coach's salary, a stipend, and additional money head basketball coaches can make doing summer camps which is the largest chunk of revenue a coach can make outside the district's apportioned salary.

Fox59 contacted Coach Galloway ths morning on his cell phone, but he has not returned our call.
