Grand jury asked to review both Carmel student assault cases

After breaking the news that a Hamilton County grand jury has been convened in the Carmel High School sexual assault investigation, Fox59 News has new information.

Hendricks County officials confirm there is no grand jury investigation there. The Hendricks County prosecutor is working with Hamilton County on the investigation because the alleged school bus assault reportedly took place in Hendrick County.

Fox59 News has now learned the Hamilton County grand jury will be reviewing both cases of alleged sexual hazing, not just an incident reported in the locker room.

In one case, a freshman alleges he was attacked by senior members of the basketball team on a bus ride home from a game in January. The second case involves hazing in the high school locker room.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Sonia Leerkamp and Carmel police are the lead agencies conducting the investigation.
