Members of the Carmel Clay School board are now weighing in on alleged assaults involving students at Carmel High School.
Board member Jeff Carter said it's very difficult to do nothing, but he added until the police investigation is complete, the school board isn't able to get involved.
Carter said that he believes the alleged incident is an isolated one, and wants parents to know Carmel High School is a safe place.
"This really, really has weighed heavily on all the board members' minds and we are going to get into it, we are in it, and we will resolve this issue," Carter told Fox59 News.
Once the police investigation is completed, the school board plans to hold a parent forum and review student rules and policies. Carter said if some type of action is necessary to protect students, the board will move swiftly.
