The defense and prosecution have rested Thursday in the voting fraud case against embattled Secretary of State Charlie White.

The trail against White began earlier this week in the Hamilton County Superior Court.

White is accused of misrepresenting his true address in Fishers when voting in the May 2012 primary election when he was on the ballot.

A grand jury indicted White on seven fraud and theft charges, and Governor Mitch Daniels has called on White to resign.

White is accused of listing his ex-wife’s address in another voting precinct across town. However, White claims he had an agreement with his former wife to use her condo as his legal residence before he re-married and bought a new home.

Final instructions and deliberations will begin Friday morning.

If convicted on any of the counts, White would be forced to step down from his position as secretary of state.
