The family of Darrin Anderson fear the worst.
"I speak to my brother daily and for me not to speak with him, within two or three days, I knew something was wrong," said Darrin Anderson's sister Karla Jones.
Anderson has been missing for a more than a month, about the same time a fire broke broke out inside his girlfriend's Abney Lake Apartment.
"She reached out to me and told me that her apartment caught on fire and then, after that, I thought, 'I wonder where my brother is?' Because my brother did not call me or tell me anything like that," said Jones.
Crews were called back out to the complex on Wednesday, September 5th. People who live in the neighborhood complained of a bad smell.
"I thought the apartment had mildew or something," said apartment resident DeShaun Grace. "It was really a bad smell. You could smell it in the hallway of my apartment."
A body was found inside the apartment. Investigators are not sure whether it had been there since the fire in early August, or dumped there by someone else. Ever since Darrin Anderson went missing, his family started putting up missing person posters.
They were hoping to get answers, but at the same time, afraid of what those answers might be.
The windows are boarded up, and crime scene tape hangs from the front door of the apartment at the Abney Lake Apartments. The family says if the body inside apartment was their loved one Darrin, it will be a continuation of the the mourning process.
"I have been grieving earlier in the month, now it is another whole month," said Jones. "Now I am just wanting to get some answers at this time."
