Local company invents fastest beer dispenser in the world

If you ever had to wait in line for a beer, your wait may be getting shorter soon.

The fastest beer dispenser in the world has moved to Indianapolis, and it fills up your cup, from the bottom up.

Josh Springer is the mastermind behind the BottomsUp Beer Dispensing System. The system works with a hole in the bottom of a cup and a magnet.

“The cup goes on the dispenser,” said Springer. “The post picks the magnet up, beer flows into the cup. When it's full you pick it back up.”

This latest model can fill up 62 beers in just one minute.

“You don't have to do anything,” said Springer. “The beer is filling itself while I'm doing something else.”

Killing the beer line was one of Springer’s major motivations.

“Nobody likes to wait for a beer and then pay a lot for it,” said Springer.

Springer said the ideas for the BottomsUp Beer Dispensing System started in a dream.

“I saw it in a daydream,” said Springer. “My dad said he didn't think I could figure it out, so I tried to prove him wrong.”

In January, the company GrinOn moved to Indianapolis for logistics reason. Indianapolis was in the middle of all the suppliers the company uses.

Now, the dream is in just about every major league sports facility in the country, including Lucas Oil Stadium and Banker’s Life Fieldhouse. It was even on display at the Super Bowl in February to keep the lines moving.

Springer said he is getting calls from all over the world.

“Apparently no one likes to wait in line,” said Springer.

One of the cool features is the magnet that makes it all work has now become advertising space for the venues that use the system. Many are selling the space and making money on the cups.
