The man accused in the deadly shooting of a 13-year-old boy was still on the run Wednesday. Fox59 has learned more about what may have led up to the fight that sparked the gunfire.
William Beard lives in the house with his brother Glenn who is now wanted for shooting 13-year-old Jarrell Tucker Sunday night,
“There is a lot more to it.”
Beard said it started a week ago when his home was broken into by some neighborhood kids. Then, last weekend he says it really ramped up, “Trying to rob people on our porch, shoot our house up, then try to rob our brother in our driveway here.”
All of that happening before Sunday night’s shooting in the alley next to Beard’s home.
Glenn Beard has only been out of jail for about a year. He was indicted in the 1980s for reckless homicide but served prison time for drug dealing, marijuana possession and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Tucker, only 13, has been in his share of trouble though too. His rap sheet includes arrests starting last year for gang graffitti, a knife assault, a fight, disorderly conduct, drugs, battery with an injury and resisting escape and intimidation. A week ago, he and some friends were investigated for an armed robbery with a gun.
One friend says, “That ain't the Jarrell we know.”
Another friend saying, “He was only 13 years old. He don't gangbang or nothing.”
But Beard now saying, “When you strong arm rob people and pistol whip people you're a thug. Nothing but a thug.”
Beard just wants people to know the full story, “They're acting like my brother shot him for no reason.”
The Beard family home has been ransacked since the shooting. William Beard isn’t currently staying there as advised by police. He think the neighborhood teens are responsible for destroying his home, “I just want them to leave us alone.”
