They are swimming, biking and running for a good cause. Fox59’s Kent Erdahl and his friends are busy training for a triathlon to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Erdahl and his triathlon group member Rajesh Danala spoke with Fox59 Thursday morning. Erdahl said he was inspired to take up this cause after doing a story on a young girl named Ericka Martin earlier this spring. Martin was battling leukemia and brought out the best in one of her former Indianapolis Public Schools teachers, who raised thousands of dollars for her family and for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Unfortunately, a week after the story aired, Martin’s leukemia came back and she passed away within a couple of weeks. However, her mother and grandmother want to help Erdahl spread the word about the impact that the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society had in their lives.
