If Hoosiers ever needed a reason to visit downtown Indianapolis for the holidays, a new campaign is making it all worthwhile.
"The idea is that we want people to stay in their own backyard and experience Indianapolis for the holidays," said Morgan Greenlee with Visit Indy.
It is called “Hoosier Holidays.” It is a campaign that gives people from our state the chance to stay at some pretty fancy hotels like; the J.W. Marriott, the Sheraton, and the Omni, for cheap.
"These rates that you will see during the Hoosier Holidays campaign are some of the lowest rates that our hotels in the city have ever rolled out,” said Greenlee. “It truly is our gift back to Hoosiers."
For example, a room at the Omni typically runs $179 a night, but if you sign up for Hoosier Holidays you can stay there for about $100. But it is not just about the hotel. Hoosier Holidays also gets you discounts to events like: A Christmas Carol at the Indiana Repertory Theatre, Jingle Rails at the Eiteljorg, Christmas at the Zoo, or dinner and a show at Beef & Boards. And who can forget the Circle of Lights?
"We love to come to downtown,” said Greenwood resident Krysta Merritt.
Merritt is already a big fan of Indianapolis.
"There is everything to do,” said Merritt. “I do not think people realize it. You turn a corner and there is something new to see."
For Merritt, “Hoosier Holidays” is an easy sell.
"Absolutely," said Merritt. “When you save money who would not want to do it?"
Something to keep in mind before you vacation downtown, you need to set up your stay at the hotel 72-hours ahead of time to be able to get the discounts. The “Hoosier Holidays” promotion runs from Nov. 19 until Jan. 6, 2013.
More information on the campaign is available online.
