According to officials, authorities stopped a northbound box truck near the 50 mile marker on Interstate 69 in Delaware County. An officer inspected the truck and found that its refrigeration unit was not running. The temperatures in the cargo area reached 67 degrees.

About 1,500 pounds of food was taken to the Randolph County Landfill for disposal.
The driver and U&D Service of Indianapolis were cited for exceeding registered plate weight, no fuel tax permit and a FMCSR violation.
The food had been headed to restaurants in Fort Wayne, Kendallville, Howe and Mishawaka.
