A Park Tudor student who overcame bullying got a visit Friday from someone who knows all about breaking barriers.

Sharon Robinson, the daughter of baseball icon Jackie Robinson, met with Raeya Ponugoti. Ponugoti won the Breaking Barriers essay contest by writing about what it took to pursue her love of dance in the face of bullying.

Robinson's father broke major league baseball's color barrier.

"Whether you are a 10-year-old or a major leaguer, you have a barrier, obstacle to overcome in your life," said Robinson.

"Just because there are bullies that doesn't mean that you have to stop what you're doing just because someone's telling you that you're bad at it," said Punugoti.

The Cincinnati Reds hosted a pre-game ceremony for Ponuguti that include Robinson Friday night.
