Indianapolis—
Former Indiana House Speaker John Gregg (D) announced Monday he has filed paperwork to create an exploratory committee for a possible gubernatorial run. Gregg served as Speaker of the House from 1996 to 2002. He has served as interim president at Vincennes University and is now a practicing attorney with Bingham McHale."I come from a small town - Sandborn, Indiana - where the values of hard work, personal responsibility, honesty and faith exemplify the Hoosier values we all share," Gregg said. "As a father and a Hoosier, I'll work twice as hard to make sure Indiana thrives so my kids and yours will be proud to call Indiana home."
According to a campaign news release, Gregg led the House when it was evenly split with 50 Republicans and 50 Democrats and brought both parties together to pass legislation to create jobs, remake public education and keep Indiana taxes low.
Gregg claims Hoosiers are tired of divisive politics and believes both parties need to come together in order to create more jobs.
