A truck driver says several men took more than $15,000 in jewelry and $250 in cash from him at a Johnson County truck stop.

The victim stopped at Flying J to fuel up and get a shower. When he came back at to his truck, three men were standing behind the truck next to him. The man said he was putting his gear back in his truck when one of the men grabbed his necklace and ripped it off.

Before the victim could say anything, the three suspects held him while a fourth took three rings from his fingers and $250 in cash from his pocket.

The men ran off in pairs of two, and the victim chased after one group. He scuffled briefly with one of the suspects after the man confronted him. One of the suspects got into a tan car, which the victim said was possibly a 90’s Buick with a dark top.

As the other suspect ran away, the victim called 911. When police arrived, the victim said the men were all white males in their late 20s or mid-to-late 30s. He clearly remembered that one man wore tan shorts, a black shirt with writing on it and a baseball cap. He also told investigators that one of the men had been in line behind him inside the truck stop.

Police showed the victim a still captured from surveillance video at the Flying J, and the victim told them it was one of the men who attacked and robbed him.

The victim told police the jewelry—the necklace and three rings—was valued at more than $15,000. The case remains under investigation.
