Paramedics rushed a 23-year-old man to the hospital early Thursday after police said he was shot in the head.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said the man was shot while in the parking lot of the Pure Passion club on 38th Street and Post Road.
After he was wounded, police said the victim struggled and failed to get into his car before collapsing in front of the neighboring gas station.
The victim was initially conscious and able to speak, although an updated condition was not available, police said.
He was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital for treatment.
A firearm recovered at the scene is under investigation.
Detectives are not yet sure who owns the weapon and are also unable to release any details about a possible shooting suspect.
