East side murder suspects appear in court

Two of the three suspects accused in the murder of 61-year-old Clayton Battice made their first court appearance Wednesday morning. Anthony Shockley and Jamar Perkins are facing charges of murder and attempted robbery. The third suspect, Johnathan Williams, has bonded out of jail. Williams has been charged with one count of assisting a criminal.

Battice was gunned down after completing an overnight shift at Wonder Bread, a place he had worked for more than 20 years.

Shockley and Perkins entered pleas of "not guilty." Perkins was appointed an attorney by the court. Shockley is attempting to hire his own. Both will be back in court on August 24th for a pretrial hearing. The case is scheduled to go to trial on August 29th, 2011.
