Is Mike Pence (R-Indiana) planning to run for president in 2012? That's what some are speculating after the Republican congressman announced he is stepping down from his post as the GOP conference chairman.

Pence says he has a lot on his plate right now but that he will be making some key decisions in January.

Other speculation is that Pence may run for Governor. So far, Pence has not said which office he may be leaning towards.

"I'm just determined to focus on where we can make the most difference for the conservative values that carried us to Washington, DC, and we'll be making a decision about our intentions after the
first of the year," said Pence.

Pence currently represents Indiana's 6th District. He was first elected to Congress in 2000 and won re-election for his sixth term last Tuesday.

Already in line to fill Pence's shoes as the Republican conference chair are Congresswoman Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and Congressman Jeb Hensarling of Texas.
