The Indianapolis Police Department is asking for the public's help locating a possibly endangered 76-year-old man.
According to officials, Richard Abel was last seen leaving his daughter's east side home around 9 p.m. Wednesday night. Abel's final destination was his home in Laurel, Ind., close to the Indiana-Ohio border. The trip should have taken Abel about two hours, but family members said they were unable to get a hold of him to verify that he had made it home.
Abel has not taken medication needed for a heart condition and may have undiagnosed Alzheimer's. He is described as 5'8" tall and around 160 lbs. He has brown eyes and gray hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt.
Abel was last seen driving his 2000 red, Dodge van. The vehicle bears Indiana handicap plate D481AT.
Anyone with information is urged to call 911 immediately.
