The calendar is called Men of the Dishroom 2012 and the inside joke at IU Health Bloomington is getting some outside attention. A risque calendar, made by hospital employees offended a fellow staff member. That staff member said this joke has gone too far.
A picture is worth a thousand words, but an IU Health Bloomington employee only needs one to describe the photos in the 2012 calendar.
"Disgusting," said an anonymous employee.
There are 12 poses, one for every month of the year. There are pictures of workers sitting on top of the sink and lying on the lunch tray conveyer belt. There are even some pictures we did not feel comfortable putting on our website. Each one shows a member of the hospital staff in a sketchy workplace circumstance.
"To see such sexual gestures," said the hospital employee. "It kind of offends me. I do not want to see that and I know that a lot of people do not want to know that things are going on in the dishroom that really are."
A hospital employee, who wants to keep his identity a secret, said dish room employees made the calendar and have been selling copies to their co-workers.
"You could buy your very own copy for $12.99," said the hospital employee.
The employee said the worst part was hospital management knew what was happening.
"Every supervisor knew about this, even the director. Nothing has been done," said the employee. "I have been sitting back, waiting on something to happen. I feel let down that no one has ever done anything about it. "
The employee said the calendar is meant to be a joke, but he is not laughing. He did not think patients would find it very funny either.
"If they want to do something like that, on their own time, that is on them, but to see this in a working environment where patients receive their food and where their food is prepared, to see that, in the department, is embarrassing."
The hospital employee told us there are even plans for a sequel to the 2012 calendar. We reached out to members of IU Health Bloomington, to get their thoughts on the calendar, and possible punishment for the guys who made it but did not hear back from anyone.
