Carrie Blankenbaker parked in the Fashion Mall parking garage on Sunday afternoon, while she and her kids were at a movie.
"As soon as the movie was out we went back and it was a little before six and that's when we discovered that the car had been broken into," Blankenbaker said.
There was no broken glass, just a small hole where her driver's side lock used to be.
"I had never seen this done before," Blankenbaker said. "I noticed immediately that the computer bag was taken."
She lost a work laptop and an iPad worth a few hundred dollars, and she was far from the only victim.
"The police officer said between Keystone and Castleton they get non-stop calls this time of year," Blankenbaker said.
"You know, time is of the essence because obviously these criminals are trying to hit these things quickly and get out of the area before police can arrive," said IMPD public information officer Kendale Adams.
Not all the crimes were so discreet. Viewers sent Fox59 photos from two additional break-ins at the Marriott Hotel next to the mall.
