“Hoosier Republican primary voters have chosen their candidate for the U.S. Senate. I want to congratulate Richard Mourdock on a hard fought race.”

The senator vowed to continue on in public service and thanked his family and Hoosiers for letting him serve.
“I cherish the confidence that each of you placed in me. And I urge you to join me in the determination to serve our country and our state. God bless each one of you and God bless America.”
In 2006, Time Magazine selected him as one of America’s 10 best senators.
The senator said despite the loss, he plans to continue to work hard on the hill through the end of his term. He said he’s hoping to get a farm bill passed before he leaves.
