Indianapolis

The suspensions of six Cascade High School students involved in a Post-It Note prank have been revoked.

"I'd like to thank you for coming here tonight," said Mill Creek Community Superintendent Patrick Spray.

Dr. Patrick Spray read a prepared statement that took less than five minutes at a news conference Wednesday night.

The announcement followed a sit-in and full-fledged protest organized in support of the students Wednesday. The nearly 60 student who were involved in the sit-in will must report for in-school suspension Thursday. The students behind the prank will speak with the protesting students about the situation, according to the superintendent.

"With the help of the six students who were originally suspended, the healing process in the Mill Creek Community has begun," said Dr. Spray.

The punishment for the almost 60 others who staged a sit-in to support the six seniors is not fair said some students.

"The only reason I got suspended was because they said we were disrupting class," said Cascade Junior Jordan Watson.

Watson said he will not show up to his in-school suspension.

"I will be out here, campaigning, working my butt off," said Watson.

Hanna Collins-Riddle is in line for a scholarship.  She said, if her suspension stands, she loses financial aid.

"It is still going to mess up us graduating and us getting into college and that is the main thing we were worried about," said Collins-Riddle

The hammer of Mill Creek Community administrators did not just come down on students, high school janitor Kim Rouse was fired as a result of the prank.  She will not be returning to work.

Across the street from Cascade High School, a petition was circulating. It called for the ousting of Superintendent Patrick Spray and Cascade High School Principal Cathy Tooley.

Parents, like Kelly Harden said the school blew the post-it prank way out of control.

"I think the principal and superintendent has handled this totally wrong," said Harden. "Totally wrong."
