It’s the cap off to four years of high school: prom and graduation. Getting a date to prom though, isn't as easy as it used to be.
For one group of Westfield seniors there is no "normal" just walk up and ask. The group has made a competition out of it.
Alex Stamm was the first one to get the competition started, "Our group of friends is sorta competitive when it comes to competitive things like this."
Mason Long also jumped right in, "I guess it became a thing to make a really special prom invite for senior year."
But Hunter Anderson was the last to go. With only two weeks until prom, he still hadn’t asked "Everyday that gets closer I feel like I have to have a better and better way."
Anderson isn’t waiting because he doesn’t know who to ask. He told Fox 59 that he has the perfect girl to ask in mind, "There is one girl in particular that I've had my eye on for a while."
Stamm made a music video to ask Katie Lilegdon who says she was super impressed, "I didn't get it until he held up the post it with my name on it."
Then his friend Chris Ransdell decided to step it up on Spring Break on vacation with his girl, "I just decided I would ask her on opening day of the Pittsburgh pirates on the Jumbo-tron."
Anna Vessely thought it was awesome, "I didn't expect it at all. I was just really surprised. It was really cool."
And then it was down to two. Mason Long went next, "So we went on a treasure hunt to find ‘X’ mark the spot, which was me wearing a shirt with 'Prom?' on it."
Lara Schneider was really proud of Long, "I told my friends. One of my friends was tearing up because she thought it was so cute."
For Anderson it just meant a whole lot of pressure and not much time, "I was too scared last year to ask her prom, but you only live once. It will be my last chance so I have to take it and make the most of it."
So Anderson asked Fox 59 for help. Wednesday night he asked his girl, "Hannah Boone will you go to prom with me?" She said yes.
