NTSB: Plane in Rainy Pass Crash Turned Around After Takeoff

Alaska State Troopers say Anchorage attorney Robert Stone and former Iron Dog snowmachine racer Jason Wichman were severely injured in a crash Sunday afternoon at the end of Pontilla Lake, near the Rainy Pass Lodge. National Transportation Safety Board investigators believe Stone was at the controls when the plane took off from the lake, turned around as if to land again and crashed at about 3:20 p.m.
