DiRT: Showdown

<i>Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC</i> <br><b>3 stars</b> <br>In the past, "DiRT" off-road racing games have toed the line between simulation style and arcade action, but "Showdown" relies strictly on the latter. Players hop into a variety of vehicles, including muscle cars, trucks, buggies--even hearses--and take them for a spin in a variety of races or events based more on crashing into opponents. The eight-ball races, for example, have players speeding around figure-eight shaped courses (the kind you might see with a kid's toy race set), while the Rampage mode plays like a demolition derby gone wild. Serious gearheads may balk at the lack of realism, but those content with some motorized mayhem will find a lot to like in "Showdown."
