The first issue of Sports Illustrated is published, featuring Milwaukee Braves star Eddie Mathews at bat and N.Y. Giants catcher Wes Westrum at Milwaukee County Stadium. It cost 25 cents. The first Swimsuit Issue appeared in 1964. And we thank them for that.
