Texas defensive end commits to Notre Dame

By Beth Boehne

Weatherford, Texas, defensive end Kapron Lewis-Moore joined Notre Dame's recruiting class of 2008 when he signed with the Irish Notre Dame.

"Everybody in the world recruited this kid," Weatherford coach Kenny Wheaton said. "We just wanted somebody to take care of him."

The 6-foot-4½, 230-pound Lewis-Moore had been committed to Texas A&M, but switched to Notre Dame. Lewis-Moore visited Notre Dame late last month.

"He was real impressed when he went up there on a visit," Wheaton said.

Wheaton said Lewis-Moore came to a decision about a week ago. Lewis-Moore is the 23rd player to commit to the class, a group that becomes official Wednesday, the first day players can sign a binding letter-of-intent.

Los Angeles-area running back Milton Knox is scheduled to announce his choice late Wednesday. He has reportedly narrowed his field to ND, UCLA and Florida.

Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis was scheduled to meet with the media at noon. The Tribune and Irish Sports Report will have more on Lewis-Moore's commitment and Weis' comments about the group later in the day, as will WSBT News at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
