SOUTH BEND — Talk is cheap when you're averaging around 30 points, 6 steals per game and you lead your team in both rebounding and assists! The truth is there really isn’t much that hasn’t already been said about Washington High School's Skylar Diggins, and she’s only a junior in high school!

“You normally don’t find a guard that is gonna do that, especially the size of Skylar — she's not a 6 foot 2 inch guard," said Panthers Head Coach Marilyn Coddens. “She just has command of the whole game."

Skylar sets the standard both on the court and off. She serves as a youth mentor within her community, has the sixth highest GPA in her class, and is a member of the National Honor Society.

“I really take great pride in that, and in coming to school every day and getting the work done,” Diggins said. "[My teammates and I] push each other.”

When it comes to her collegiate hoops career, the sky is the limit for Skylar. She is being recruited by almost every major collegiate program in the nation.

"The college process has just been fun," she said. "You can’t make it a job, because it is what you have worked hard for."

"We have to remember she's only a junior in high school. Everybody thinks that she's been around forever, and she is ready for the next level, but she has one more year of high school," Coddens said. "It's hard to believe that somebody that young would be that composed, and that knowledgeable, and just sees the big picture."

Congratulations to Skylar Diggins, this week’s Burger King Outstanding Student Athlete of the Week!
