SOUTH BEND -- Several Notre Dame coaches, including head football coach Charlie Weis, shared their thoughts upon hearing of Kevin White's decision to leave Notre Dame.

Notre Dame football coach Charlie Weis:

“Today is a bittersweet day for me. Upon hearing the news of Kevin’s departure to Duke, I want to personally thank him for being such a great confidante and friend. I can’t imagine any person being more supportive of the Notre Dame athletics programs, including all 26 sports. He has set the table for success on and off the field in all of our sports, and he will be dearly missed.

“I have total confidence that Notre Dame will move forward with a great replacement in the appropriate timetable. Father Jenkins’ guidance will put us in a great position to grow to new heights. Kevin has set the bar, and we will all be part of taking the program to even higher levels. I wish Kevin good luck and great success.”

Notre Dame men’s basketball coach Mike Brey:

"As an athletic administrator, Kevin White is one of the best there is and has a great understanding for the landscape of college athletics. One of Kevin's greatest attributes is that he knows how 'to coach the coach' and is a great confidence-giver. He and his wife Jane have become great friends to my wife Tish and me. I always will be grateful to Kevin for giving me the opportunity to become the basketball coach at Notre Dame."

Notre Dame women’s basketball coach Muffet McGraw:

"Kevin has been an outstanding leader for Notre Dame athletics. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to work with and learn from him, and we appreciate all the support he has shown towards our program. While we're disappointed to see him go, we wish Kevin and Jane nothing but happiness and success at Duke."
