SOUTH BEND — Skylar Diggings is about to embark on the journey of a lifetime! The Washington High School senior is one of 12 players selected to represent the United States in the Under-18 Americas Championship later this month in Argentina.

Playing for Team USA is the latest honor for Diggins, who was also recently named in the Indiana player of the year, and a Parade All-American.

Diggins reports to the U.S. Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. this week for training camp. The top three teams in the Americas Championship earn a berth in the U-18 World Championships next year in Bangkok, Thailand.

Diggins spoke to WSBT’s Pete Byrne about this opportunity, as well as where she plans to play college basketball. Click "Watch the Video" to see the full interview.

Skylar is NOT the only "good thing to come out of the west-side of town". There are a lot of children and adults doing good things - they are just not on Washington's basketball court.
