Ryan Newman's seven year ride in the #12 Alltel Dodge is about to come to an end. He's agreed to join Tony Stewart, as the second driver of the Stewart-Haas racing team.

Reports on espn.com say Newman has reached averbal agreement with Stewart-Haas Racing. Two-time cup champion Tony Stewart recently purchased 50 percent ownership of the team, and will drive the #14 car in 2009.

Ryan Newman, Stewart's friend, will team up with him, and drive the #4 car.

No formal announcement has been made, announcing Newman's partnership with Stewart, in part because the team wants to lock up sponsorships for Newman's car before announcing the deal.

As of July 30, there are 16 races remaining on the Sprint Cup schedule. Newman is in 16th in the Cup standings.
