SOUTH BEND — Penn senior Lily Svete racked up 16 double doubles in her junior season with the Kingsmen — averaging 17 points and 10 rebounds per game. The funny part is, she wasn't even all that into hoops until she moved to Indiana.

"I lived in New York State until I was 8 years old, and then I moved here and got involved. I participated in some Notre Dame basketball camps and from there I just fell in love with the game," said Svete.

A first team All-State team member in 2008, Lily is largely considered one of the top 10 girls players in Indiana.

"She's done everything we've asked her to do and she's a great player and a great person -- you just couldn't ask for anything more," said first year head coach Terry Tulchinsky.

Svete keeps up her grades, continually maintaining a 3.8 GPA. Next year, she's trading the cold weather for year round sun and palm trees, on a scholarship to play hoops with the Florida Gators.

"I always wanted to stay home, but everything just felt right for me at Florida. I'm so excited to go down there and play with the Gators," she says.

Before heading to the swamp Lily has one more season with the Kingsmen. Along with Boston College bound Kelsey Reynolds, Svete is a key figure for the Kingsmen.

"I like being in this role of a leader on the team," admits Svete. "We just love playing together and we all love being together on the court as well as off."

Congratulations Lily Svete, this week's Burger King Outstanding Student Athlete!
