BUCHANAN, Mich. (AP) — Josh Grant became the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship series' seventh first-time winner of the season, beating Chad Reed on Saturday in the 450 Class in the Monster Energy Motocross National from RedBud.

Grant, the JGRMX/Toyota/Yamaha rookie rider from Riverside, Calif., was second in the first moto, nearly stealing the win from Rockstar/Makita/Suzuki's Reed, then held off Honda Red Bull Racing's Ivan Tedesco in the second moto.

"I really needed this win," Grant said. "I finally got a decent start and just made all the passes I needed to get to the front. I'm pumped for the Joe Gibbs Racing team because its our first outdoor win. I knew we had the speed. I just needed to get a start and today everything worked out."

Reed, the season points leader, was third in the second moto.

In the 250 Class, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Jake Weimer raced to his second straight victory.
