MISHAWAKA ― The Mishawaka Cavemen are off to an unbeaten start, and kicker Matt Reisdorf attributes it to one thing: Teamwork.

“I think we’re becoming a great team,” says Reisdorf. “I like what we’ve become.”

“Great leader, positive,” says Mishawaka head coach Bart Curtis. “You could not get that kid down if you told him today was the last day that he’d ever get to kick.”

When it comes to kicking the ball or kicking the books, Matt says “kicking the books can be difficult at times, but I think I’d go with that, yeah.”

Matt keeps his schedule busy off the field as well. He is student council president, a part of the mayor’s youth council, and at Mishawaka’s homecoming he was voted homecoming king.

“My parents have done a great job of instilling in me a sense of academics over athletics,” said Reisdorf. “Going hard at whatever I do, so the combination of the two helps me do great in whatever I try.”

Here’s how I’ll summarize Matt,” adds Curtis. “When parents get their baby brought to them for the first time, you know, in the hospital ― and parents understand what I’m talking about ― they can only hope that 18 years later they have a Matt Reisdorf.”

Matt holds a 4.0 GPA and plans to study to be a doctor at one of two Indiana universities.

“IU Bloomington or Valpo, maybe,” says Matt.

Congratulations to Matt Reisdorf, WSBT and Burger King Outstanding Student Athlete.
