MISHAWAKA — Two local high school rivals will face off again Friday night.

Mishawaka is set to take on Penn in the sectional championship. When they played on October 2, nearly 8,000 people were there. The school expects to see a similar crowd in the re-match.

For 29 years straight, the Penn football team defeated Mishawaka. This year, things changed. Mishawaka won the game, and the enthusiastic crowd rushed the field. Will the team be able to pull off a win again? Both teams are 10-1 this season.

“There are both two very good teams, and they'll see an exciting football game,” said Bob Shriner, Mishawaka High School athletic director. “Again, finally we're going to have decent weather Friday night and it's just pretty great entertainment for $5, and to support these kids is important because they've given an awful lot and worked very hard, both teams, to get to this point, so I’d encourage you to support them.”

With a large crowd expected for the game, you will want to think about parking ahead of time. It will cost $1 to park in a school lot. There is also some neighborhood parking, or you can park at Merrifield Park and walk just a few blocks to Steele Stadium. The school encourages everyone to carpool to the game.
