BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Maurice Creek had 29 points to lead the Indiana Hoosiers in an 81-58 victory over North Carolina Central on Saturday night.

Creek, a 6-foot-5 guard, finished 12 of 17 from the field, including five 3-pointers, and grabbed seven rebounds. He entered the game as the Big Ten's top freshman scorer at 17.3 points per game. He scored a career high 31 in a loss to No. 3 Kentucky on Dec. 12.

Christian Watford had 11 points and Tom Pritchard scored eight for the Hoosiers (5-5), who moved within a game of their win total from last season. Indiana has two games left before its Big Ten Conference opener against Michigan Dec. 31.

C.J. Wilkerson led the Eagles (2-9) with 22 points.

North Carolina Central gave the Hoosiers a scare in the first half, taking a 33-32 lead on Dwayne Sims' two free throws with 1:53 left. Indiana regained a 36-33 halftime advantage on a pair of free throws from Watford.

The Hoosiers took control with a 22-9 run to begin the second half. Creek's consecutive 3s gave Indiana a 58-42 edge with 14 minutes left.

The Hoosiers shot nearly 51 percent and outrebounded the Eagles 46-28.
