The only South Dakota high school football class of the six to have a new leader is 11AA.

Sioux Falls Roosevelt took over at No. 1 in the South Dakota Sportswriters Association's poll. In other 11-man news, 16 of the 63 South Dakota teams are undefeated. Last week, 19 were undefeated.

In 9-man, 24 of the 82 South Dakota teams are undefeated. Last week, 26 were undefeated. The only undefeated teams unrated are Faith, Wilmot (both 9A) and Little Wound (11A). See Scoreboard for the poll and Page 2B for the weekly American News high school football column.

Goslinga honored

Northern State soccer player Rachel Goslinga has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference offensive player of the week.

The junior scored two goals and added an assist in the Wolves 4-0 victory against Jamestown College on Wednesday. She added an assist in the Wolves 3-1 loss against Sioux Falls on Friday and added another goal in NSU's 2-0 win over Viterbo on Sunday.

For the week, Goslinga had three goals scored on 12 shots. Goslinga also had two assists, making her directly involved in five of the seven goals scored by the Wolves this week. The Wolves return to action on Saturday in a 1 p.m. match against Augustana College at Jerde Field in Aberdeen.

Ipswich tourney

The Knights of Columbus golf tournament is Saturday, Sept. 24 at Split Rock Country Club in Ipswich.

WISSOTA 100 in Huron tonight through Saturday

Dakota State Fair Speedway in Huron will host the WISSOTA 100 for the third year in a row.

More than 400 cars are expected for the show Wednesday through Saturday. There will be an open practice at the track at 7 tonight. Racing starts at 5 p.m. Wednesday with heat races and feature qualifiers in Midwest Mods, Super Stocks, Modifieds and Late Models. Racing starts at 5 p.m. Thursday with heat races and feature qualifiers in those classes as well as Street Stocks.

Racing starts at 4:30 p.m. Friday with races in all six classes including Mod Fours; races include the Race of Champions. Racing starts at 5 p.m. Saturday with last-chance heats and feature races in all six classes.

The Rapid City American Legion Post 22 baseball team is looking for a head coach for the first time in 47 years.
