1986 - The Oklahoma Sooners arrived in Miami to begin preparations for the Jan. 1 Orange Bowl, but were without All-American linebacker Brian Bosworth, who was barred from the game, because he tested positive for steroid use in an NCAA-mandated drug test.
1991 - Scottie Pippen scored 27 points to go over 5,000 points in his NBA career and led the Chicago Bulls to a 121-99 victory over the Boston Celtics.
1996 - Chicago improved its record to a National Basketball Association-best 25-3 with a 95-83 victory over the Detroit Pistons. Michael Jordan topped the Bulls with 23 points.
2001 - Penn State running backs Eddie Drummond and Omar Easy scored on short touchdown runs to lead the Blue to a 28-10 win over the Gray in the annual Blue-Gray Classic college football game.
2006 - Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan broke the NCAA single-season record for touchdown passes by throwing five in the second half of the Rainbows' 41-24 victor over Arizona in the Hawaii Bowl. Brennan, who was 33 of 42 for 559 yards in the game, concluded the season with 58 TD passes, surpassing David Klingler's record of 54 for Houston in 1990.
2010 - Jay Feely's 48-yard field goal with five seconds left boosted the Arizona Cardinals to a 27-26 National Football League victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
